Fall A-Fair
at
Still Hollow Farm

Still Hollow Farm is celebrating its annual Fall A-Fair for two weekends in October. All proceeds go to the Nathanael Greene Museum to help promote ongoing programs. The fun and activities begin on Oct 9th and continue through Oct 17th. Join us on the farm at 3005 West Allen’s Bridge Road in Greeneville, Tennessee.
The Farmer’s Wife Gift Shop will be filled with extra antiques and collectables with special discounts on all the garden and wrought iron items in stock.
As part of the open house event on the Quilt Trail, we will be serving refreshments on Sat. Oct 16th from 10:00 AM until 1:00 PM in the gift shop. Come listen as we share the story of our farm’s quilt square. We will also have some wonderful Greene County quilts on display and some for sale.
At the pavilion site, handmade crafts will include woodcraft, ceramics, folk art, fabric crafts, and baskets. Come talk with local artisans and learn from various educational exhibits. We’re excited that Obermeyer’s furniture refinishers from Rogersville will have examples of refinished chairs. Bring your own chairs and furniture for these folks to take to their workshop for refurbishment.
The Nathanael Greene Museum is a Greene County Museum dedicated to preserving our heritage. The museum was begun in 1983 and incorporated in 1986. At present the museum consists of ten galleries and numerous independent exhibits.
The Museum is named for the outstanding Revolutionary War general under whom many Greene Countians served, and for whom the town and county are named.
Inside you will see the historical and colorful story of men and women who helped shape the history and destiny of Greeneville, Greene County, the State of Tennessee, and even the nation.
For the most up-to-date information, please click on the Nathanael Greene Museum Calendar.

Battle of Kings Mountain Lectures Studies Campaign
Known as the turning point of the American Revolution, the Battle of Kings Mountain was the result of threats hurled at the militia and families living in the Highlands of Southwest Virginia, East Tennessee and Western North Carolina. Rather than seeing war come to our region the militias in the region mustered and eventually marched 200 miles to end the Loyalist threats commanded by Major Patrick Ferguson. The brave mountain folk, largely from the current Mountain Empire, met the enemy at Kings Mountain South Carolina and changed the tide of American history. In commemoration of the upcoming 230th anniversary of the Battle of King’s Mountain there will be a lecture series studying this decisive campaign by the Arts Array cultural outreach series of Virginia Highlands Community College. This four-part series will be held on Thursday evenings during September at the Southwest Virginia Higher Education Center in Abingdon Virginia. These series of lectures are free to the public.

Mr. Johnson started a town by building a home along a

from Washington, D.C. to Knoxville, and on beyond. He opened a store which
served travelers and local settlers and also conducted a hotel. Henry is
reported to have welcomed travelers at any time and persons without means to
pay for lodging were welcome just the same.
